Last weekend Selwyn’s rock band - ‘Minutes to Monday’ competed in the Auckland Central Regional Smokefree Rock Quest along with 15 other bands. The band consisting of Neo Aiono-Fukushima - vocalist, guitarist; Hamish Brown - bass guitarist and Jacob Worrall - drums performed two new songs:  ‘Ferret’ and ‘The Governor’.   The band performed their new songs with enthusiasm and expert musicianship.

Huge congratulations to Hamish Brown; the bass guitarist of the band who was awarded the MAINZ Best Musician Award.

On Sunday Jess Smith competed in the solo/duo aspect of the Smokefree Rock Quest.  She performed her song ‘I’m Here, Your There’ with 30 other singer/songwriters.

Another huge congratulations to Jess Smith who won first place and is now able to submit a video to be considered for the National Finals.   At the conclusion of Jess’ performance, Priya; a NZ singer/songwriter came up and congratulated Jess on her song. Priya was wowed by her performance and the overall musicianship of the piece with the lyrics which made the audience sit up and listen.

We are very proud of Hamish and Jess!
