Selwyn Sailors are Soaring Again

Last weekend our sailing team competed in the National Match Racing Qualifying Regatta.  The team had won the Secondary Schools Keel Boat Championships in March and was offered a chance to trial and compete.

Many of the sailors they were up against compete internationally on the keelboat circuit so the challenge was tough.

In the first round robin they soared to second place.  This was a particularly stunning result because the team were using a sail set-up that they are unfamiliar with and they beat many of the top NZ keelboat teams.

In the end, they came 4th overall which means they now go on to compete in the National Keelboat champs in early October against some of the best international sailors. WE wish them all the very best!
