We held a spectacular Sports Awards Ceremony in the Barfoot and Thompson Stadium. One of the signs of a strong school is when Sport is strong and the size and spectacle of this glittering event with close to 500 students, parents, coaches, managers, and teachers in attendance is a great sign that Selwyn sport is in wonderful shape.
This year we’ve had 90 teams representing our school – 5 more than last year and the most ever - with particularly strong growth in netball, water polo and badminton. We’ve also added two more codes to our portfolio making 26 in total. This sort of growth demands coaches and not only have we increased the number of qualified coaches but we have also seen a wonderful increase in the number of senior students who have volunteered their time to coach.
The guest speaker at the award ceremony was New Zealand Footballer Katie Duncan whose inspirational message which was well-received.
Congratulations to all of the students who receive awards in recognition of their Sporting achievements this year.
