We are thrilled to announce that Selwyn College placed 1st Overall in the inaugural Auckland College Climbing Series after a fantastic performance by the team in the third and final round of the competition last weekend, which involved 35 schools. This meant they won the @rab.nz Auckland College School shield, which was a closely fought battle. In the end, it was the consistency of the Selwyn team that gave them the edge over Northcote College (2nd) and Baradene College (3rd).
Thirteen climbers competed in Round 3 with the following notable results:
William McKnight - 1st Senior Boys’ Top Rope and Senior Boys’ Overall
Paul Schoeman - 3rd Senior Boys’ Top Rope and Senior Boys’ Overall
Selwyn College was also awarded the Sportsmanship Award for the round, which is a fantastic accolade for these students.
Across all three events, Selwyn College students also achieved podium finishes:
William McKnight - 2nd Overall in the Senior Boys’ division
Paul Schoeman - 3rd Overall in the Senior Boys’ Division
Samuel McKnight - 3rd Overall in the Intermediate Boys’ Division
We are thrilled that our Climbing Club has grown in both numbers and performance this year and we are very grateful for the parent support led by Lisa Marie and Ian Hallam and John McKnight.
