Special congratulations to the Selwyn College Tongan Group who can take great pride in their inaugural performance at the 2021 Polyfest, which is one of the world’s biggest celebrations of Pasifika culture and talent!

Having prepared for their debut in the 2020 Polyfest, which did not go ahead because of Covid, it was an especially poignant moment for the group and their coaches, teachers and parent supporters.

Under the coaching expertise of Soane Pusiaki their tutor, the whole group performed a wonderful Ma’ulu’ulu in the morning. Then in the afternoon, some of our girls performed a beautiful Tau'olunga.

The judges were so impressed with the girls’ performance that they placed 3rd in this category. This is a truly magnificent outcome for an inaugural performance. Hence, we are very proud of them!

Special praise must also go to the two leaders of the group – Jennifer Tutuila and Paula Faleola. Also to Paula’s mother Meivisi for her passionate and engaging support, along with many other parents.

A huge thank you as well to our teacher Lizi Fa’asolo for her passion and guidance and to Sonya Shone for her support.
