One of the best Selwyn College initiatives is our annual Head Students’ Day. This year Jax Warren-Kazor and Esther Sovincet invited Head Students from every school in Auckland and the response was fantastic! About 80 students gathered in our Library, along with members of our Student Executive, to hear three impressive speakers address the topic of what makes an excellent leader.
The speakers were Desley Simpson, Auckland’s Deputy Mayor, Ethan Mitchell, multiple-time World Cycling Champion, Olympic medallist and Commonwealth Champion and Jeremiah Tauti, former educator and now head of Mana Connections.
Following the speakers, the tables brainstormed ideas about how to be the best leaders for their schools and participated in a range of networking activities. Lunch was definitely well received – 80 pizzas disappeared very quickly!
