Over the holidays Ella Lash competed in the Squash New Zealand Junior Open. This is open to all players under the age of 19. She finished runner up after a tough 5 set battle against the number 1 seed. At 16, it is an amazing achievement to finish as the second best junior player in New Zealand!
This tournament was also registered on the PSA World Tour so has helped her Senior World Ranking increase to 180. Again at 16, this is a major achievement.
The NZJO was the first selection tournament for the World Junior team, with the second event in two weeks. Fingers crossed these results will see her competing on the World Junior stage in August representing New Zealand.
We are extremely proud of Ella and wish her all the very best. Next she will be competing in the Auckland Open Squash Championships.
