Over the last three weeks we have been honouring and celebrating many of our talented students who have won awards at school this year. We are extremely proud of them! In this week’s newsletter we feature the first two events—The Sports and Arts Award ceremonies.
The end of year celebrations began with our Sports Awards and Dinner in the Barfoot and Thompson Stadium. Despite the difficulties of Covid in Term 1, this has been the biggest year ever for Selwyn Sport. We fielded 89 teams across 30 codes in inter-school sport. Hence, there was a great deal to celebrate.
The evening was a spectacular event with 450 students, parents, coaches and managers in attendance. They enjoyed the delicious catering, listening to DJ Forbes, renowned NZ Rugby 7s player, who was the guest speaker and their overall mood was one of genuine excitement about the successes of our young sports people.
One of the signs of a strong school is when Sport is strong. And this magnificent event is surely a sign that Selwyn sport is in wonderful shape!
