When students reach Year 11 at Selwyn College, they have the option of continuing their science study by taking Senior General Science. This program covers content from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students who complete this course will have a broad knowledge base in the core domains of science such as understanding how acids and bases interact, understanding Newton’s Laws, and understanding the functions of different parts of cells. Students who complete Year 11 Science will be ready for future senior courses in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Students may also continue in the Senior General Science program with NCEA Level 2 and NCEA Level 3 Science. These programs offer achievement standards across the NCEA curriculum preparing students for a broad range of futures in and out of the sciences.
