Geography
AIM OF THE COURSE
Students will learn how to develop their Geographic skills through, mapping, graphing, researching and problem solving. They will become more aware of how people interact with both natural and cultural environments. Students are able to gain NCEA Literacy and Numeracy credits, which are vital for students wanting to excel at all Levels.
Level 1
Level 2
Level 2 builds on the geographic concepts and skills from Level 1 and follows a similar schedule of internals and externals. In 2018, students focus on differences in development in two diverse countries – India and Qatar. There is also a focus on a global issue, which is selected by the students, with topics such as Terrorism, Desertification and Civil Rights being popular choices. For the research based internal, students travel to Rotorua to investigate the sustainability and impacts of tourism in Rotorua. Geographic skills and concepts are taught throughout the year.
Level 3

Geography equips students with the knowledge and skills to interpret the world in which they live. Through purposeful study, students develop geographical understandings that lead to a diverse range of career options:
