Netball

Netball at Selwyn continues to build and get stronger and stronger. We welcome students of all ages and abilities into our netball program and in the 2021 season we entered 12 teams into the Auckland Netball Secondary School League as well as we will be sending our Premier Team to the UNISS 2021 Tournament (Upper North Island Secondary Schools). We have a dedicated Netball Convenor to help ensure both the smooth running of the sport at school and at the courts on game day. That helps provide a cohesive experience for our Netball girls.

2022 INFORMATION

The Netball season runs in Term 2 and 3 (May – September) and we run a pre-season Summer Netball Academy in Term 1 for students wanting to improve their skills year round. This provides opportunities for all years to be coached in fundamental netball skills before the season starts when tactics and team plays become a key focus.

TERM 1, 2022

SUMMER NETBALL ACADEMY

4 week programme – 1 session per week involving 15 minute of fun fitness and conditioning followed by 45-60 minutes of fundamental netball skill development. Runs Wednesdays after school 3.30pm – 5pm

UMPIRE TRAINING COURSE

We also will be running our very successful Umpire development courses for those of you who would like to learn how to umpire and earn a bit of pocket money during the year. This course involves both a theory and a practical session run by the experienced umpire trainers at Auckland Netball. Costs for both sessions is approx $30 total. There are options to be a paid umpire for both year 5-6 games on a Thursday night and year 7-8 on a Tuesday night as well as some games on a Sat morning as well as gaining umpire experience in an fun and supportive environment,

TEAM TRAININGS

Team trainings will be 1-2 sessions per week

MATCHES

13 weeks of games on Saturday morning at Auckland Netball Centre.

Games can be anytime from 8am – 12.30pm.

Season starts Saturday 7th May 2021 and finishes 24th August

No play – 5th June, Queens birthday weekend, 23rd June Matariki Holiday

9th, 16th, 23rd July – School Holidays

FEES

Fees are $100 for the 2021 netball season (May-September) including being provided with fantastic playing uniforms. And with heavily subsidised costs for all other optional programmes, including the summer academy.

TOURNAMENTS

A range of tournaments will be available to play in

UNISS

The Senior Black team attends UNISS (Upper North Island Secondary Schools tournament) 2021 tournament being held at Howick/Pakuranga Netball Centre during winter tournament week (30th August till 3rd September)
